Hey egg hunters! The Easter event has concluded, and I've dug into the data to see how everyone used the guide. Thanks to the 843 of you who tracked your progress with the site!
Note: This analysis only includes eggs that were marked individually - it doesn't count eggs toggled using the "toggle all" button. Also, many players likely found eggs naturally before using the guide, so these numbers represent guide usage rather than total egg discoveries.
Special thanks to Tel for his invaluable help with locating eggs and determining the optimal order in the guide. Check out Tel's YouTube channel for more great game content!
The data above gives us a snapshot of how our community engaged with the Easter egg hunt. With 843 unique egg hunters finding a total of 37,101 eggs, players averaged 44 eggs discovered per hunter. Again, this isn't a direct reflection of players actual completion rates, as they weren't required to mark each egg as completed on the guide, may have started before finding the guide, and usage of the "toggle all" feature is not accounted for.
This interactive timeline shows both unique visitors and egg discoveries throughout the event. The data reveals several interesting patterns:
The highest volumes seen on April 3-4 coincides with the guide launch. This shows players hunger and enthusiasm for the event in general
A notable surge around April 12, show increased interest due to the first weekend not directly after launch
Consistent activity throughout the month, showing sustained interest
A gradual tapering rather than a sharp drop-off, suggesting players were completing the hunt at their own pace
A decent rise in the final few days, as many players attempt to complete what they had previously delayed
Try hovering over specific days to see the exact numbers, or toggle between user counts and egg discoveries to compare the patterns!
This chart shows how players progressed through the four episodes. Starting with 435 players in Hopeport, 378 continued to Hopeforest, 304 to Mine of Mantuban, and 279 made it all the way to Crenopolis.
What's particularly interesting is what happens at each transition:
Hopeport → Hopeforest: 13% drop-off
Hopeforest → Mine of Mantuban: 20% drop-off (free-to-premium boundary)
Mine of Mantuban → Crenopolis: 8% drop-off
I would have expected the guide to read somewhat opposite to this, as I imagined players may often start the event and complete hopeport, but later get stuck and use a guide for later episodes.
The first chart shows how egg hunters were distributed across the four episodes. Hopeport, being the first area and available to all players, naturally had the highest number of visitors at 435. It's important to note also, that the guide would open with the hopeport tab toggled by default.
When we look at the total eggs found in each episode, the numbers reveal a similar pattern but with some key differences. Hopeport led with 11,607 eggs discovered, followed by Hopeforest with 10,355. The premium episodes show nearly identical totals with Mine of Mantuban and Crenopolis each having around 7,500 eggs found (7,569 and 7,570 respectively).
Perhaps the most telling statistic comes from the third chart, which shows the average number of eggs found per hunter in each episode. Here we see remarkable consistency across all four areas. Players found an average of 26.7 eggs in Hopeport, slightly more (27.4) in Hopeforest, a small dip to 24.9 in Mine of Mantuban, and back up to 27.1 in Crenopolis.
Given that each episode contained 32 eggs, and with the caveat that toggle all clicks were not included in this data, as well as players possibly starting the egg hunting before using the guide - I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of users who used the guide were able to complete the episode they started out on.
This interactive heatmap provides a comprehensive view of which eggs were marked most frequently across all episodes. The colour intensity represents the number of times each egg was marked, with yellow indicating hot zones, and purple indicating cold zones.
The difference in egg collection count between the free and premium episodes is quite staggering, where the most collected egg in the later episodes doesn't come close to the least collected egg from the initial ones. You can view just a single episode at a time to get a better picture of just a single episode.
The visualization reveals several interesting patterns:
Early-numbered eggs consistently show higher mark-off rates
The gradient effect shows how players typically progressed through the guide in sequence
The final few eggs in each episode are noticeable cold zones, however I would expect this given that some users just won't have ticked them off, whilst others will have opted to use the toggle all button
The picture for each episode looks largely familiar with the exception of the mines - which have a curious uptick in eggs being collected around egg numbers 16-20
Just a little fun chart - take a look at how the total count of eggs collected per episode over time. I wonder what a future version of this looks like when we have more episodes and perhaps more data points to compare etc?
Looking at all these numbers and charts, it's clear the Easter egg hunt was a huge success! With over 800 players using the guide to find more than 37,000 eggs, the Brighter Shores community really embraced this seasonal event.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the event and used the guide! The data shows a highly engaged community that embraced the egg hunt with enthusiasm. Your feedback and participation make creating these guides worthwhile.
Looking forward to the next event!
