Combat Rework Q&A Details

The Book of Travels team has postponed their planned Q&A livestream but released written answers to community questions about the upcoming Combat Rework. Here are the key takeaways:

Combat Progression Changes

  • Combat will have a single global level system with a maximum of 2000 (potentially 2500 across Episodes 1-5)

  • XP curve: First 200 levels match other professions, with difficulty increase at level 800 instead of 200

  • The first skin of each monster will be easier than subsequent skins, helping new players catch up

  • XP penalties for easy battles will remain but have been adjusted

Equipment System

  • The Quartermaster storage will be unrestricted and able to store all combat items

  • Brannof Inheritance quest reward will expand storage space

  • Combat capes will gradually transform as you progress, replacing panels from top to bottom

  • Armor designs will stretch across 2,500 combat levels spanning Episodes 1-5

  • There are no episodical combat items under the new design

  • Amulet slots remain unused, with potential for ring slots in the future

Personalized Striping System

  • Personal striping is based on episodes that exist (first two for free players)

  • Players won't actually see the stripes in-game; progression appears as a single loop

  • New foes can be inserted into the middle of a stripe, not just at the beginning/end

  • The order of personalized striping cannot be influenced

Additional Information

  • Den raids and bosses will use the level of skin 1 of the lowest-level foe in the episode

  • Knowledge Points from all episodical combat professions will be combined into the new combat skill

  • Enchanting is now done at Obelisks instead of through the Enchantress

  • Combat levels will not currently be shown above players like total level is

Future Development

  • The combat rework was prioritized before roadmap features because early feedback showed frustration with Hopeport equipment being useless in Hopeforest

  • This update only addresses progression and enemy levels; combat mechanics changes will come in a future update

  • Special attacks will be part of the second phase of combat rework

  • The team feels the global combat profession design maintains their vision while providing cohesion between episodes
